Salford Student Life Award: Making your time with us count!

by Tahira Majothi on September 24, 2010

I’ve just returned from this year’s Welcome Event for Postgraduate Researchers, organised by my colleagues in the RGC. It’s great to see the campus come alive again and as this was also my first researcher welcome event since starting at Salford University, it was lovely to meet the new arrivals and to find out a little bit more about people’s passion for their individual research specialisms.

My colleagues within the Careers and Employability and Student Life Services have been out in full force in the White Marquee (quite literally did anyone hear the thunder storms yesterday?!) opposite University House to introduce you to the full range of services we have to support your career progression.

Whether you are looking to advance further in or out of academia, employers will want to know what you have participated in or contributed to outside of your studies and research, to get a full picture of your employability, enterprise and personal development. The Salford Student Life Award may be just the thing for you, why not listen to our podcast for more information.

The Salford Student Life Award seeks to enhance your time whilst at the University. We actively encourage involvement in extra -curricular activities. The Award recognises your achievements in volunteering, mentoring, career development and enterprise initiatives.

You can then obtain a Bronze, Silver or Gold standard depending on the number of skills development sessions you attend as well as the number of hours you commit to volunteer work. Visit the Salford Student Life Award section of our website for full details, and don’t forget that our part-time jobs and volunteering fair also takes place in October.
