About Careers & Employability

There is a dedicated team of people working at Careers and Employability to help provide you our students with as much help as we can in developing your own employability while at University as well as giving you options and providing access to real opportunities for when you finish your time here. Our statement of service can be found here. Check our website for up-to-date details of everything we offer.

What you can get from us includes:

Careers Advice and Guidance
A full range of Careers Advice and guidance is available all year round. This includes:
  • 30 minute careers advice appointments are available throughout the year at University House. Booking appointments can be made by contacting our Front Desk on:             0161 295 5088      
  • A CV Clinic is available for students at the following times:
- Tuesday 10.00am – 12 Noon
- Thursday 2.00pm – 4.00pm
  • The CV Clinic service is available on a drop-in basis and each member of staff will offer 6 time slots over the 2 hour period, i.e. 20 minutes per slot.  Booking opens 10 minutes prior to the session start time.
  • A general Careers Clinic is available at the following times: 

- Wednesday 11.00am – 1.00pm

The Careers Clinic is offered on the same basis as outlined above.

Careers Information
A range of careers and employability information is available using a variety of media. The channels through which information can be accessed are:
  • Online: 
- The Careers & Employability website a gateway to structured, high quality information
Blackboard for some subject areas 
Social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter and blogs 
  • Print
- Themed careers related information accessible via our Information Resource located on the Lower Ground Floor, University House
- The Enterprise Library – covering resources relevant to enterprise and entrepreneurship. Further support is available on our website.
  • PCs are available for student use in our Information Area
We constantly monitor and check the relevance and accuracy of information contained within our information area.

Careers and labour market information

Careers library with wide range of careers resources – both take away and reference and online.

Job vacancies

Jobs an opportunity service which advertises part time job vacancies, vacation jobs, volunteering and full time jobs for when you complete your studies/research.

Career development workshops/events

Career development workshops on topics including psychometric testing, interviews and career planning

Access to information about a wider range of events both regionally and nationally that you can go to

The Salford Student Life Award provides a framework for you to take action on your career development and gives recognition for activities you are involved with outside your studies.
