Blog AuthorsFiona Christie has worked at the University of Salford since August 2008 as a senior careers consultant with lead responsibility for the postgraduate and researcher community. Previously she worked at the University of Manchester as a careers consultant for 10 years. Her background is in careers guidance and she has also worked in schools and colleges (with earlier stints as a welfare benefits adviser and a bookseller in a workers’ co-op). Through the course of her career she has worked with employers from a variety of industries and occupations as well as students and clients with a wide spectrum of abilities and ambitions

Tahira Majothi joined the University of Salford in March 2010 as a careers consultant and her responsibilities include providing careers guidance and support to the postgraduate and researcher community. Previously she has worked at Manchester Metropolitan University as a Careers Adviser for 2 years and spent 5 years at Manchester Connexions as a Personal Adviser helping marginalised young people with disabilities as well as care leavers and asylum seekers progress onto education, employment or training. Tahira’s background is in careers guidance as well as welfare advice. Previously she has worked for Manchester and Rochdale Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB), Touchstones Museum and employment company Tony Walsh Associates to help ex-offenders back into supported work. Throughout the course of her studies and career Tahira has held a strong interest in promoting the rights and entitlements of marginalised groups in society and has sat on diversity boards at CAB as well as Connexions
