Postgraduate Futures 2012

Our annual Postgraduate Careers event is on Tuesday 26th June 2012 (12.30pm-5.00pm).  The event is for all University of Salford postgraduates (on both research and taught programmes).  We are really pleased to say that so far all our speakers are also University alumni, working in diverse roles and industries. Finally, I am getting round to posting up the details of our programme. So do please see our UPDATED Schedule for details of all invited speakers. We have a mixture of both PhD and Masters’ alumni and they include:

The Keynote speech by Mildred Talabi, Careers speaker, writer and blogger; author of 7 Keys to a Winning CV.

Clive Reddihough – Managing director – Fusion Marketing Services

Helen Ferris – Applications development manager – Citi

Neil Bruce – Sound designer, musician, film-maker, multimedia specialist and trainer

Kat Radford – Sustainability assessor, Pozzoni

Philip Piper – Sales and Business Development Director, Badenoch and Clark

David Roberts – Principal at Wentworth Coaching and Training  Associates

Our aim this year is to focus on employability for postgraduates and hear about the career stories of some of our postgraduate alumni.  In addition, some of them are now employers and  will share what they really want from job applicants. Our focus this year will be on non-academic career options.

You will be able to network and take part in our Q&A panel discussions with a range speakers.

Get answers to these questions:

  • What do employers look for from job applicants?
  • How can postgraduates best present themselves to employers?
  • Does a postgraduate qualification give you a competitive edge in the job market?
  • What do our postgraduate alumni really do?

Full details of presentations and biographies of speakers will be made available soon.
